Ukraine Cinc Praises Sumy Defenders On Region's Liberation Anniversary


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces of Ukraine, Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, thanked everyone who last year liberated Sumy region from the Russian invaders and now continues to bring the victory closer.

He wrote about this on telegram on the occasion of the anniversary of Ukraine regaining control of the state border in Sumy region, Ukrinform reports.

"On April 11, 2022, control over the state border in Sumy region was fully restored. The defense forces finally drove out the enemy and de-occupied the region. The towns and villages of Sumy region stopped the enemy on their way to the capital. The occupiers suffered significant losses in manpower and military equipment.

As reported, as of April 7, 2022, the vast majority of Russian forces pulled out of Sumy region under the pressure of Ukraine's Defense Forces.

As of April 9-10, the Russian occupiers completed the withdrawal of their troops from Sumy region to the Russian Federation.

For some time, small groups of Russian servicemen remained in the liberated territories, hiding out or trying to randomly cross out.

On April 11, units of the 5th Border Guard Detachment regained control over previously uncontrolled sections of the state border in Sumy region.
