Security Operations Kill A Soldier, 2 Militants N. Pakistan

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ISLAMABAD, April 9 (KUNA) -- At least two "terrorists" and a soldier were killed in security operations in a tribal district of Pakistan's northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province bordering Afghanistan, said the military on Sunday.
According to a press release by Pakistan military's media wing Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), two terrorists were killed in separate gun battles during operations in the Waziristan tribal district of Pakistan.
It said that a fire exchange took place between security forces and terrorists in the general area Razmak of North Waziristan resulting in the killing of one terrorist. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the slain terrorist, it added. The ISPR said that in another "fierce encounter" in South Waziristan district's general area of Karama, "own troops effectively engaged the terrorists' location, killing one terrorist". However, the military confirmed that during an intense exchange of fire, a soldier of the Pakistan army was also killed.
The operations were conducted a day after a meeting of National Security Committee, chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and attended by top military and political leadership, as part of an "all-out comprehensive operation" to rid the country of the menace of terrorism. (end)
