GCC Chief Deplores Continued Israeli Intrusions Into Al-Aqsa Mosque

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) RIYADH, April 9 (KUNA) -- Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jassim Al-Budaidi has condemned Israeli forces' escalation in Jerusalem and their continued violations of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
In a statement issued Sunday, Al-Budaiwi said Israel's continued intrusions and fire opening into the Mosque violate sanctities, and international law and UN resolutions, and are an aggression on the first Qibla of Muslims.
He held the Israeli government accountable for those violations, which fuel sedition and hatred.
The GCC Supreme Council's statements affirm firm situation of the GCC member states on the Palestinian cause and sanctities, he stressed.
Al-Budaiwi emphasized the centrality of the Palestinian cause and GCC support to Palestinians' sovereignty on the occupied Palestinian territories since June 1967.
He further stressed GCC member states' support to Palestinians to establish their independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital and guarantee the rights of refugees, in line with the Arab peace initiative and the international legitimacy resolutions.
He urged the international community to take steps to protect Palestinian civilians, and halt attempts aiming to alter Jerusalem's legal position and its demographic composition. (end)
