Report Shows Significant Increase in Copyright Trade Agreements under Belt, Road Initiative
(MENAFN) A report released by the Chinese Academy of Press and Publication (CAPP) in Beijing on Monday highlighted the development of international publishing cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative. The fourth volume of its kind, the report showed that copyright trade agreements signed between China and countries related to the initiative increased by 167 percent from 2016 to 2021. This increase demonstrates the growing importance of the Belt and Road Initiative in facilitating international trade and cooperation.
According to the report, in 2021, there were 10,162 copyright trades between China and countries related to the initiative, down 567 year-on-year. However, the report noted that of the total, 1,623 copyrights were imported, 12 more than the previous year, indicating that the demand for Chinese literature and academic publications is still strong in these regions.
Wei Yushan, head of the CAPP, highlighted the significant progress made in international publishing cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative. Under the guidance of relevant departments, publishers in China have jointly built platforms for academic, literary, and children's publishing with relevant countries and regions, building a bridge for close cooperation between China and foreign countries. These platforms have facilitated the exchange of ideas and cultural understanding, promoting a more diverse and inclusive global publishing industry.
The report's findings have important implications for the future of international publishing cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative. As the initiative continues to grow and expand, opportunities for cooperation and exchange between China and other countries are likely to increase. This trend is expected to contribute to the development of a more vibrant and interconnected global publishing industry, with greater cultural exchange and understanding between different regions of the world. Overall, the report's findings demonstrate the potential for the Belt and Road Initiative to drive positive change and promote cooperation in a wide range of sectors.
