Israel Fires Missiles at Damascus, Causes Damage, Injuries
(MENAFN) Reports indicate that the Syrian military has accused Israel of firing a series of missiles at the capital city of Damascus in the early hours of Thursday morning. According to state news agency SANA, which cited military sources, the attack occurred at approximately 1:20 am and resulted in property damage within the city. While air defenses were able to successfully shoot down some of the "hostile targets," it remains unclear where the missiles struck.
Loud explosions were heard throughout Damascus, and reports suggest that a fire broke out in the Al-Midan neighborhood, a residential area located in the southern part of the city. Other sources have claimed that the strike was targeted at the nearby Kafr Sousa municipality. At least two soldiers were reportedly wounded in the attack, and there has been some "material damage" reported. Ambulances were also said to have been dispatched to the scene to provide assistance to those who may have been injured.
It has been reported that the missiles were launched from the direction of the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights. This is not the first time that Israel has been accused of targeting Syria with airstrikes. In fact, just a week prior, Israel targeted the airport in Aleppo, causing damage to the runway and rendering it out of service for two days.
As of yet, there has been no official statement from Israel regarding the alleged attack on Damascus. This incident serves as yet another reminder of the ongoing tensions and conflict between these two neighboring countries, and the potential consequences that may arise from such actions. The situation in the region remains tense and unpredictable, with both sides continuing to engage in aggressive behaviors that threaten the stability of the region.
