Turkish President Promises to Heal Wounds Caused by Earthquakes

(MENAFN) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has promised to heal the wounds caused by the powerful earthquakes that hit the country's southern region last month and claimed more than 50,000 lives. Speaking at a ground-breaking ceremony in the Adiyaman province, Erdogan said that the government is working day and night to heal the wounds caused by the earthquake in the hearts of millions of Turkish people.

Türkiye is planning to build 319,000 houses in one year in the quake-hit region, Erdogan said. He added that the government is establishing temporary accommodation areas while also starting the construction of permanent residences. So far, the construction of 56,323 houses has started.

On February 6, the magnitude 7.7 and 7.6 earthquakes struck 11 provinces in Turkey, including Adana, Adiyaman, Diyarbakir, Elazig, Hatay, Gaziantep, Kahramanmaras, Kilis, Malatya, Osmaniye, and Sanliurfa. The earthquakes had a devastating impact on the region, with more than 50,000 people losing their lives.

More than 13.5 million people in Türkiye have been affected by the quakes, as well as many others in northern Syria. The government's plan to build 319,000 houses in one year is a significant undertaking, but it is a necessary step to help the region recover from the disaster.

The promise made by President Erdogan is a reminder of the importance of strong leadership in times of crisis. The government's commitment to rebuilding the region and providing support to those affected by the earthquakes is a positive sign, and it is hoped that the efforts will help to heal the wounds caused by the disaster. The international community must also continue to support the relief efforts in Türkiye and Syria and provide the necessary resources to help those affected by the earthquakes to rebuild their lives.
