QS Participates In Two Arab Meetings For Standardisation And Quality


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Qatar, represented by the Qatar General Authority for Standardization and Metrology (QS), chaired the 16th meeting of the Committee to follow up the implementation of the Arab Strategy for Standardization and Quality 2019-2023 emanating from the Arab Organization for Industrial Development, Standardisation and Mining. It also participated in the 58th meeting of the Arab Higher Committee for Standardization, which was held in the Morocco's capital, Rabat.
The State of Qatar was represented in the two meetings by Eng. Nawaf Ibrahim Al Hamad Al Mana, Assistant of the Chairman of Qatar General Organization for Standards and Metrology (QS), and Chairman of the Permanent Technical Advisory Committee in charge of following up the implementation of the Arab Strategy for Standardization and Quality 2019-2023.
In his speech, Al Mana praised the achievements made by the Arab Organization for Industrial Development, Standardization and Mining, despite the current global economic conditions and challenges. He also congratulated Engineer Adel Saqr Al-Sager, Director General of the organisation, for his distinguished efforts with regard to Arab coordination, and highlighting its role in international forums.
Al Mana praised all the organisation's employees for their efforts to highlight the pivotal role of standards, metrology and quality activities at the Arab level, and the members of the Strategy Implementation Follow-up Committee for their role in this regard.
The meeting discussed a number of important issues, including following up on the implementation of the recommendations of the 15th meeting of the Committee for Follow-up on the Implementation of the Arab Strategy for Standardization and Quality, and discussing the implementation plan for the period 2019-2023 for the axes of specifications, technical regulations, and conformity assessment systems within the Arab strategy for standardisation and quality.
The report of the 11th recommendations of the Arab Accreditation Cooperation (ARAC) was also discussed, and the report 'Progress in implementing the metrology axis work plan within the Arab strategy for standardisation and quality 2019-2023', which was submitted by the Secretariat of the Arab Accreditation Agency, was reviewed.
The meeting also discussed the draft Arab strategy for standardisation and quality, in addition to a report on the progress of implementing the action plan of the accreditation axis within the Arab strategy for standardisation and quality 2024-2028. The meeting also reviewed the strategy's governance framework and made a number of recommendations to implement the Arab strategy for standardisation and quality.
On the other hand, the State of Qatar participated in the 58th meeting of the Arab Higher Committee for Standardization, which was also held in Rabat on March 15-16, during which the implementation of the recommendations of the previous meeting and the presentations of international and regional organisations participating in it were followed up.
The meeting reviewed the report of the 4th meeting of the general committee for Arab standards, the Arab halal program, the Arab quality award, the Arab standardisation day, and how to coordinate the Arab position in regional and international forums.
