Azerbaijan Invites Armenian Representatives to Second Round of Talks on Reintegration of Karabakh Region

(MENAFN) Azerbaijan has invited representatives of Armenian residents living in the Karabakh region to hold a second round of talks on their reintegration into Azerbaijani society. The invitation was extended by the Office of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and aims to discuss issues related to the implementation of infrastructure projects in Karabakh. The talks will be held in the coming days in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.

The announcement follows a previous meeting on March 1 at the headquarters of the Russian peacekeeping contingent stationed in the region. The meeting involved representatives of the Armenian residents living in the Karabakh region and Azerbaijani officials, including Ramin Mammadov, who was appointed by Baku for the talks.

The Karabakh region had been under Armenian occupation for nearly three decades until Azerbaijan liberated it in the fall of 2020 after 44 days of heavy fighting. The second round of talks on reintegration is seen as an effort to establish a path forward for the Armenian residents of the region to reintegrate into Azerbaijani society. The talks will also focus on addressing infrastructure projects in the region to facilitate the reintegration process.

The invitation from Azerbaijan’s presidential administration highlights a willingness to engage in constructive dialogue with the Armenian community in Karabakh. However, it remains to be seen how the talks will progress and whether they will result in tangible progress towards reintegration and infrastructure development in the region.
