Ajit Doval, the national security advisor for India, attended the fifth multilateral security conference on Afghanistan in Moscow. He reviewed Afghanistan's situation with President Vladimir Putin during his visit to Moscow.

Doval and Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed a wide range of bilateral and regional issues during the meeting in Moscow, according to a tweet from the Indian Embassy in Moscow.

“NSA Ajit Doval called on HE President Putin. Wide-ranging discussion on bilateral and regional issues. Agreed to continue work towards implementing the India-Russia strategic partnership.”

The Indian Embassy in Moscow noted that the meeting was mainly focused on Afghanistan, including extensive discussions on regional and bilateral issues with the Russian President.

In the meeting, Doval asserted that“no country should be allowed to use Afghanistan's soil to export terrorism and radicalization.” On the other hand, he emphasized the need for security cooperation of all the regional countries in the conference to deal with the emerging security challenges in Afghanistan and the region.

On the other hand, Putin, the President of Russia, also expressed his worries and said,“We are also worried about attempts to use the situation in Afghanistan to allow extra-regional forces to expand or build their infrastructure,” released in a statement by Kremlin.

Putin also asserted,“Obviously, the situation in the country is not improving, and we see this. The humanitarian situation is worsening.”

Russia hosted the Moscow Security dialogue, and representatives from India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan were invited to discuss various Afghanistan-related topics, including security and humanitarian crisis.

The fifth round of the Moscow Format Meeting comes as Afghanistan's security situation is quickly deteriorating and has already forced the closure of several foreign embassies in Kabul.
