G7 Ambassadors Hope For Rapid Restoration Of Asset Declaration System In Ukraine

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The ambassadors of the Group of Seven countries have said they hope that the Verkhovna Rada will quickly restore the asset declaration system, which will prevent corruption and strengthen public trust in the government.

That's according to the twitter account of the Japanese Presidency of the G7 Ambassadors' Support Group in Kyiv, Ukrinform reports.

'Effective anti-corruption mechanisms are key for Ukraine's resilience in wartime and post-war reconstruction. G7 Ambassadors look forward to rapid restoration of the asset declaration system by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. This will prevent corruption and strengthen public trust in government,' the ambassadors said.

Draft law No. 8071, which restores the process of submission and verification of asset declarations, is being considered by the Verkhovna Rada.

Ukraine's National Agency on Corruption Prevention said the bill on the restoration of the asset declaration system takes into account the conditions of wartime and is absolutely necessary for strengthening the fight against corruption.

On February 24, 2022, the agency closed access to the public part of the Register of Asset Declarations so that the aggressor state could not obtain data on Ukrainian civil servants and politicians.
