Sarab county output of per annum surpasses 2,800 tons


(MENAFN) Over 2,800 tons of honey is outputted in Sarab county, in the northwestern East Azarbaijan district, a year, as shown by the ruler of the county.

Ali Jahani asserted that with 65,000 beehives, this county it comes in the first spot in the province in terms of the amount of bee colonies, as well as ranks second in honey output.

He stated that the following nations are the main shipment destinations of the county’s honey: Iraq, Russia, Malaysia, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, in addition to Pakistan.

According to the figures lately issued by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Iran is the third-biggest creator of honey across the whole world.

In line with the chairman of the Animal Science Research Institute of Iran (ASRI), the county also comes in the third spot in the world in the amount of apiaries.

Mokhtar Mohajer has asserted that Iran's rank in honey output is shifting and soaring from the fourth to sixth place internationally.
