(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Qatari team (1), consisting of the duo Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan ranked 2nd in the world, defeated today Brazilian team consisting of the duo Evandro Oliveira Junior/Andre Loyola Stein, 2-1 within the 2023 Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour 'Elite16' Opening Round for men and women at the Aspire Park sports complex which is qualifying for the Olympic Games Paris 2024 and will run till Feb. 5.
This was the second match for Qatari team (1) in the tournament, as they lost 0-2 in the first match against duo Ehlers/Wickler from Germany.
The Qatari team (2), consisting of Mahmoud Essam and Abdullah Nassim, lost two matches on Thursday, against Netherlands duo de Groot/Boermans, and Herrera/Gavira from Spain.
The Qatari team (1), was drawn in Group D of the opening round next to the duo Evandro Oliveira Junior/Andre Loyola Stein (Brazil), Ehlers/Wickler (Germany), and Italys Carambula/Ranghieri, while the Qatari team (2), consisting of Mahmoud Essam and Abdullah Nassim, was drawn in Group C along with duo de Groot/Boermans from the Netherlands, Chilean duo Marco/Esteban Grimalt, and Spain's duo Herrera/Gavira.
