Trump asserts truce with Ukraine

(MENAFN) At a 2024 campaign rally in New Hampshire on Saturday, former United States President Donald Trump asserted that if elected, he could rapidly mediate a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine. He also criticized Joe Biden's international strategy as president.

Trump also mentioned that “through weakness and incompetence, Joe Biden has brought us to the brink of World War III.”

He declared that if he had still been in government, the military confrontation between Moscow and Kiev would not have occurred and intended to "bring back peace through strength." On the other hand, “My personality kept us out of war,” he claimed. Noting that “if I was president, there would not have been a war with Russia in Ukraine.”

The declaration was made at a time when some Republicans were debating whether the present level of United States military assistance to Ukraine was justified. In a letter to Biden and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin on Friday, four House Republicans voiced their disapproval of Washington's plan to give Kiev M1 Abrams tanks.
