Politician states 76 percent of foreign companies still operate in Russia even with conflict

(MENAFN) Almost 76 percent of foreign firms continue to work in Russia, the chief of the nation's lower legislative chamber made a statement on Monday.

In spite of the exodus of a lot of foreign companies over the conflict in Ukraine, "75.9 percent of foreign companies stayed in Russia”, State Duma speaker Vyacheslav Volodin shared on Telegram.

"This decision speaks volumes: They believe in good prospects for the development of our country's economy, they are satisfied with the business climate. Those who left suffer billions of dollars in costs," according to Volodin.

The senior politician also said that Russian firms were replacing places left open by foreign companies that left when Russia began its "special military operation" in February 2022.

The lawmaker called for companies to be "nationally oriented," so their incomes are spent to improve Russia, stressing that it was a priority of the State Duma to give lawful support for such goals.
