Doha: A firearm was seized by the Land Customs Administration after it successfully foiled a smuggling attempt into the country.

In photos shared on Customs' social media handles, a gun and an additional empty magazine were seized. A box containing 50 bullets was also found.

Authorities mentioned that the weapon was found hidden under the driver's seat.

Last week, Customs also thwarted an attempt to smuggle 1,777 lyrica pills into Qatar. The contraband was seized at Hamad International Airport inside the luggage of one passenger.

Customs officers are provided with all means of support including the latest devices and continuous training to read the body language of passengers and to be aware of the latest methods followed by smugglers.
