China believes that japan rising on defense expenditure is worrying

(MENAFN) China on Tuesday stated that Japan's rise in defense expenditure is a reason of worry, casting doubt on Tokyo's peaceful intentions.

“Japan’s rising defense budget caused concern, arousing neighboring Asian countries and the international society’s suspicions that Japan is deviating from its path of self-defense-only principle and peaceful development path,” Wang Wenbin, representative of China’s Foreign Ministry, informed a news meeting in Beijing.

Beijing’s worry comes following Japan last Friday chose to surge spending on the nation’s defense, bringing the yearly budget to an all-time peak.

A draft budget for the next year agreed by the administration ruled by premier Fumio Kishida witnessed Japan’s overall expenditure reach a record 114.38 trillion yen (USD865 billion).

The surge comes after Japan’s concentration on growing its defense abilities, with social security costs carrying on its increase.

Tokyo, which is part of the US-led Quad that involves Australia and India, is going to be having an expense of 6.8 trillion yen (USD51.7 billion) on defense, a yearly rise of 26.3 percent.
