Algeria, Germany ink MoU to construct 50 MW hydrogen plant
(MENAFN) Algeria and Germany on Tuesday reached an agreement to ink a memorandum of understanding for the building of the initial green hydrogen plant in the North African nation.
The MoU was inked on the offshoots of the fourth Algerian-German Energy Day in Algiers. The agreement was inked among Sonatrach, Algeria’s state-possessed oil firm, as well as the German gas firm VNG AG.
In line with the Algerian governments, the offered plant is going to have an output volume of 50 MW.
The MoU targets “to explore opportunities for cooperation for the realization of projects in the field of hydrogen and of green ammonia to be exported” to Germany, according to a report from Sonatrach.
“The first step of this project is focused on feasibility studies on the hydrogen value chain, from production and transport to commercialization. This will allow (us) to assess the potential of commercial projects to be jointly developed,” it stated.
