Azerbaijani president, Turkmen parliament chief talk about two-sided relations ahead of Awaza summit

(MENAFN) Azerbaijani leader Ilham Aliyev talked about two sided ties on Wednesday with Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, head of the People's Council of Turkmenistan.

“Having discussed issues of expansion of bilateral interaction in the economic sphere, interlocutors underlined the significance of the joint Turkmen-Azerbaijan intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation, the regular meeting of which was held in (Azerbaijan’s capital) Baku on November 29, 2022,” as stated by Turkmen state news agency Altyn Asyr.

The report also mentioned that Aliyev and Berdimuhamedov praised the inking of a January last year memorandum of understanding on the mutual exploration, exploitation, as well as improvements of the Dostluk hydrocarbon sector in the Caspian Sea as an “achievement.”

“Interlocutors also touched upon cooperation in the humanitarian field, having spoken for further expansion of interaction in culture, science, education, healthcare and tourism,” the announcement further added.

The closed-door gathering came on the offshoots of the initial summit among the presidents of Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Turkmenistan in the western Turkmen city of Awaza.
