KABUL (Pajhwok): The reconstruction work of eight schools buildings in western Farah province which were damaged during the past wars has started, an official said on Monday.
Education Director Mawlavi Akhtar Mohammad Zaeem told Pajhwok Afghan News these schools situated in the provincial capital and some districts and its work will be completed in six months.
He said the construction of retaining walls, washrooms were also included in the project. The entire cost of the project is estimated 20 million afs which will be provided by the UNICEF.
He said these schools were destroyed during past wars and needed reconstruction.
Abdul Ahad, one of the teachers of Sur Wa Shorab village said:“Our school building was damaged in past wars and its retaining walls were completely destroyed. Now we welcome government's step of rehabilitation,” he said.
Ahmad, the resident of Sur Wa Shorab Village, said their school building was damaged during past wars and their children remained uneducated.
He said now he was happy that fighting had ended in the country and children were going to school without any fear.
Mohammad Sarwar, the student of class three, said:“We are happy that peace had returned to our country after 20 years and now we can go to school without fear.”
He said in the past conflict, their school partially damaged, its doors, windows, retaining walls and washrooms were completely destroyed.
He hoped the reconstruction work of their school will be completed soon.
