Russian Pres. Urges Addressing Situation In N. Iraq


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) MOSCOW, Nov 24 (KUNA) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin called for finding a political settlement to the situation in northern Iraq.
During a phone conversation he initiated with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Shia Al-Sudani, President Putin raised the attempts of some Western countries to impose a price cap for the Russia oil exports.
Such practices contradict the principles of free trade and could have dire consequences to the world energy markets, according to a statement from the Russian presidency.
On the Russian-Iraqi relations, both sides shared the determination for strengthen cooperation in all areas, notably the economic and commercial ones.
They praised the roles of Russia and Iraq in the OPEC+ alliance as favorable to the stability of the oil market, the statement added. (end)
