Kuwait's Oil Minister Calls For Transforming To Green Energy


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) SHARM EL-SHEIKH, Egypt, Nov 8 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Deputy Prime Minister and Oil Minister Bader Al-Mulla said Tuesday there is international orientation and desire to resolve climate change.
This came in a statement made by Al-Mulla on the sidelines of opening Kuwait's pavilion at the COP27 held in Sharm El-Sheik resort, stressing the importance of carbon neutrality and moving to green energy.
He referred to the need to international cooperation to prevent carbon emissions or at least to reduce them in line with a clear time plan.
He explained that this cooperation needs financial support to carry out the strategic plans of this topic.
COP27 is one of the most important international conferences, he said, referring to the effective participation of heads of countries and governments.
During Al-Mulla's visit to Kuwait's pavilion, with Foreign Minister Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, he said he met the Kuwaiti negotiating team, all oil companies, the Environment Public Authority, the Kuwait Fund for Development and other parties supporting Kuwait's efforts in important issues related to the environment and addressing emissions.
He said he was proud of Kuwaiti youths participating in the conference and the team which focuses on commitment launched by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on carbon neutrality.
The minister stressed the necessity of resolving climate change inside Kuwait, saying that 'the mission is not easy and it needs concerted efforts inside the country'.
He indicated that the Ministry of Oil, in cooperation with the Ministry of Water and the Environment Public Authority, would work on addressing all obstacles and coping up with the points mentioned in the conference. (end)
