(MENAFN) US Leader Joe Biden criticized billionaire Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter, stating the social media platform “spews lie all across the world.”
“Now what are we all worried about? Elon Musk goes out and buys an outfit that sends and spews lies all across the world,” Biden announced throughout a campaigner in Chicago on Friday.
“There’s no editors anymore in America. How do we expect kids to be able to understand what is at stake?” Biden added.
Biden’s comments came when Musk announced dismissals at twitter on Friday.
Musk has acted swiftly after his USD44 billion purchase of Twitter last week, laying off CEO Parag Agrawal first and canning the whole board of directors, leaving himself temporarily as the only boss of Twitter.
The layoff statements do not come as a surprise, as Musk stated after the purchase that he wants to lay off up to half of the business’s 7,500 workers.
Musk added on Friday Twitter has seen a big decrease in income, blaming "activists’ groups" of pressuring advertisers.
"Twitter has had a massive drop in revenue, due to activist groups pressuring advertisers, even though nothing has changed with content moderation and we did everything we could to appease the activists," Musk shared on his personal account.
"Extremely messed up! They’re trying to destroy free speech in America," he further wrote.
