Armenia is ready to execute Russia's peace initiative

(MENAFN) Armenia is willing to work on developing ties with its opponent and neighbor, Azerbaijan, based on Moscow's values, Prime Minister Nicol Pashinyan said on Friday. The nations will have a trilateral conference in the Russian city of Sochi next week, according to the Kremlin.

Pashinyan stated in a tweet that Yerevan was ready to reaffirm its position during Monday's talks in Sochi.

The next talks will concentrate on promoting peace and security in the Transcaucasus region. Russian President Vladimir Putin, Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev, and Armenian Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan will also review the execution of prior trilateral accords inked in 2020 and 2021. The conference was instigated by Moscow, according to the Kremlin.

“Honestly, I want [the peace agreement] to be signed by the end of the year,” Pashinyan asserted, as quoted by Russian news agency TASS, adding that the government would do everything it can for this plan to be “realistic.”

Previously on Friday, speaking at the extraordinary session of the Collective Security Treaty Organization via video link, Putin stated that Russia “cannot stand aside from problems” and tensions between Yerevan and Baku. Moscow is always ready to support their “peaceful settlement.”
