Mcnair International, HKA Hold Seminar On 'Role Of Expert Witnesses In International Dispute Resolution'
Senior lawyers from McNair International and expert witnesses from HKA co-hosted a seminar recently,“offering practical advice and guidance” to working with expert witnesses in international dispute resolution, especially arbitration.
The event was well-attended by an audience of representatives of leading businesses and law firms based in Qatar, along with participants attending virtually from all over the world.
Expert evidence, especially on damages calculations, is a very important part of the arbitral process and features heavily in disputes arising in the construction and energy sectors, both key sectors of the Qatari economy.
The event was moderated by Professor Khawar Qureshi KC, head, McNair International. Colin Johnson, a partner at HKA, set out the importance of expert evidence in international disputes in the Gulf region and beyond and highlighted some key points to be aware of.
Dr Daniel Greineder, senior counsel at McNair International, shared tips and experiences of working with expert witnesses as a lawyer representing parties in disputes.
Anastasia Medvedskaya, associate, McNair International's London office, provided a survey of important legal developments on the calculation of damages in international disputes.
