(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BRUSSELS, Oct 4 (KUNA) -- The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in Stockholm Tuesday decided to award the Nobel Prize in Physics 2022 to three scientists for their work on quantum information science.
The Academy in a press release said the three scientists Alain Aspect from France, John Clauser from the US, and Anton Zeilinger from Austria were give the award for their groundbreaking experiments using entangled quantum states, where two particles behave like a single unit even when they are separated.
Their results have cleared the way for new technology based upon quantum information, it noted.
The prize of 10 million Swedish kronor (USD 9.1 million) will be shared equally between the laureates.
Alain Aspect, born 1947 in Agen, France is Professor at University of Paris-Saclay and Polytechnique school, Palaiseau, France.
John Clauser, born 1942 in Pasadena US, is Research Physicist at Walnut Creek USA.
Anton Zeilinger, born 1945 in Ried im Innkreis, Austria is Professor at University of Vienna, Austria. (end)
