Iranian FM, Omani counterpart discuss latest improvement

(MENAFN) Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian and the Omani FM Sayyid Badr Al-Busaidi talked about the most recent improvement in two-sided relations and also local improvement in a phone call on Friday.

The two parties also hosted discussions around the most recent improvement about the discussions to regain the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the formal name for the 2015 nuclear agreement.

The phone call comes during the JCPOA discussions that have gotten into a dead end.

In a meeting with IRNA correspondent in New York issued on Friday, Iran’s highest diplomat noted that Washington’s reply to the EU offer was “interpretable” in several methods, and Tehran promised to “strengthen” the U.S. reply.

Amir Abdollahian explained that “We tried not to change the balance and the content. The framework of the agreement that we have should be maintained, but this text should have been strengthened by maintaining our red lines. One of the dimensions of this strengthening was ‘clarification’ so that when the text is published, 10 interpretations of a single text would not come out, but at least, the majority of the readers of that text should feel that they have a single understanding of that text.”

Adding that “Moreover, more important than that text for us is the implementation of agreements.”
