Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister of Pakistan, warned the international community not to“let its guard down,” saying once again that terrorism in Afghanistan poses a threat to global security.

The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Sharif, in a tweet on Friday stated that“As I stated in my address at UNGA, terrorism continues to threaten not just Afghanistan & Pakistan but also the world.”

Reacting to the deadly explosion at the Kaj education center in Kabul, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended condolences and sympathies to the families of the victims.

He described the loss of life that occurred while he was in a learning center as“sheer barbarism” and expressed his profound condolences over it.

The speech of the Prime Minister at the General Assembly sparked widespread controversy and criticism on social media, to which the Chargé d'affaires of the Pakistani embassy in Afghanistan later, in a statement, apologetically stated that expressing concern should not be taken as“enmity”.

Former Afghan foreign minister Mohammed Haneef Atmar also slammed Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for speaking to the UN General Assembly about the threat of terrorism coming from Afghanistan but leaving out the terrorist groups that are active in Pakistan.

Meanwhile, Dr. Arif Alvi, the head of state of Pakistan, emphasized the need to improve relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

These come at a time when the Taliban accused Pakistan of allowing US drones to attack Afghanistan while Pakistan expressed concern about terrorism in Afghanistan.
