Dhaka : When the private airline industry of the country was out of existence, a young entrepreneur, without any experience in the airline trade, firmly stepped into the industry in 2014 with a new airline.
Currently, the airline operates 80 flights daily in each of the eight airports of the country and 24 flights daily in 11 international destinations.
During the recent Covid-19 pandemic crisis, when most of the airlines of the world shut down, one Bangladeshi airline continued its operations even in a limited scale. Apart from their regular passenger service, the airline operated passenger and cargo charter flights too, to rescue stranded Bangladeshis while saving the nation plenty of foreign currency.
It has 16 aircraft in its fleet including six Boeing 737-800s, seven ATRs and three Dash-8 Q400s with an average age of 10 years.
Soon, the airline will be adding ultramodern widebody aircraft in its fleet to operate flights to new destinations of Europe, America, Middle East and Far East.
For this purpose, the airline is now in the global distribution system of both Travelport and Sabre.
The airline mentioned above is none other than the largest private carrier of the country US-Bangla Airlines and the founder of this airline is none other than, Md Abdullah Al Mamun.
To recognise his decade long contribution in the aviation industry of the country, the jury board of TripLover Monitor Airline of the Year 2022 honoured Md Abdullah Al Mamun with 'Airline Entrepreneur of the Year 2022' award.
