
Qatar Customs Seizes 700,000 Cigarettes Hidden In Tea Shipment For Evading Taxes
Doha: The Maritime Customs Department, represented by the Hamad Port Customs Department, thwarted an attempt to smuggle banned tobacco substances and a huge quantity of cigarette cartons hidden among tea shipments.
In several photos shared on social media, Customs stated that the tobacco substance reached a total weight of 3,250 kilograms. Along with this, the authorities also seized a huge quantity of cigarettes stashed in a shipment of tea, hidden to evade customs duties and tax. The total amount of seized cigarettes reached 700,000.
Customs officers are provided with all means of support including the latest devices and continuous training to read the body language of passengers and to be aware of the latest methods followed by smugglers.
