Russia refuses ‘nuclear saber-rattling’ claims

(MENAFN) Moscow’s representative to the UN nonproliferation review conference announced on Tuesday that Russia’s policy for the use of nuclear arms is very obvious and the recent war in Ukraine does not achieve any of its standards.

Alexander Trofimov further declined some statements by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken as “utterly unfounded” rumor, maybe proposed to increase “anti-Russian hysteria.”

“We would also like to strongly reject the utterly unfounded, detached from reality and unacceptable speculations that Russia allegedly threatens to use nuclear weapons, particularly in Ukraine,” Trofimov claimed on Tuesday, using the right of reply to talk over the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) review meeting in New York.

Russia’s nuclear policy is “explicitly clear,” thinking about their use only in invasions involving arms of mass annihilation or a conventional attack threatening the country’s existence, Trofimov added. “Neither of these two hypothetical scenarios is relevant to the situation in Ukraine.”
