Srinagar – The students of government College of Education (GCoE) on Friday conducted a cleanliness drive at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Khanyar.
The drive was initiated by the Interns of GCoE pursuing an internship at the Model School. The GCoE students said the cleanliness drive is part of the co-curricular activities being held as part of the internship programme.
The slogan of the cleanliness drive was“Clean City: Green City”. The participating students called for an end to the use of plastic in and around the city.
Apart from the students, faculty members of the school also took part in the cleanliness drive and rallied in the campus.
Irm Mehraj an internee said“Cleanliness drive is being held to create civic sense among children so that they know keeping the city clean is the responsibility of everyone who lives in the city”.
“There is a clamount need of inculcating such virtues in every individual. Cleanliness promotes good and favorable thoughts among persons and keeps an individual away from diseases” she added.
Another student voiced similar views“For a nation aspiring for development, cleanliness is of utmost importance” said Izzat Showket.
“Cleanliness influences the hygiene, health, aesthetics and natural setting of the nation, we aspire for a clean and a green India” she said.
Sanitation and neatness play an important role in our day to day routine. Cleanliness brings good and positive thoughts in the mind which slows down the occurrence of diseases said Shaila Wani, another Intern.
Apart from the cleanliness drive, Students also took part in other activities including Yoga, Self-defense, Quiz competition, poster competition, Public Speaking and singing.
The activities are being held to involve students in the co-curricular activities.
Apart from students of the college, the faculty of Government Girls Higher Secondary School also took part in the cleanliness campaign.
The interns thanked the Principal and the teaching faculty of the school for their support and cooperation.
On Thursday, the GCoE students conducted a cleanliness drive at Government Higher Secondary School, Sumbal.
