India is amongst those very few countries where 75% healthcare is in the hands of private players. Being a vast and populous country, it is important that healthcare reaches the remotest parts, to ensure even distribution of healthcare. Though government plays its role, but there are many challenges to ensure seepage of health amenities to the poorest of poor, as well as the rich who want nothing but the best, that too at their convenience. In today’s digital era many health care companies have come up to cater to varied needs of patients and their loved ones, that enable them to get the best healthcare. Let’s have a look at some of them.

PharmEasy
This 2015 start-up, is based on providing medicines to customers delivered at their homes, when ordered through their app. Founded by Dharmil Sheth, Mikhil Innani and Dhaval Shah, it brings medicines to the doorstep. Though medicine is only delivered after verifying the prescription by the doctor, the discounts added are a much- needed respite for those on regular medications. The pharmacist does not have to maintain a retail shop, which cuts down running costs, enabling them to pass on their profits to the customer. It is a win-win situation for both the pharmacist as well as the patient. Also, the medicines are guaranteed to be genuine, with a bill.

Practo
Started in 2008, this is the technological revolution which was in the making for a long time, and was much ahead of its time. Co-founded by Shashank ND and Abhinav Lal, it provides an integrated healthcare system and bringing together doctors from across the globe right on your mobile phone for video or telephonic conversation was the mission they set out with. One can book an online appointment with any doctor, as per need. All the doctors are rated on the app and have reviews, which the patients can refer to before booking them. There is a directory of doctors for offline consultation as well in case you need to. During Covid times since this app was in place, it benefitted many.

Niramai
The founders Geetha Manjunath and Nidhi Mathur set out to provide a solution for early detection of breast cancer. Till date, physical check-ups and mammography seemed to be the only solution. However, many women have avoided these regular assessments due to lack of awareness or time. The high-resolution thermal sensing device that can detect cancer can be easily used by every doctor in the remotest part of the country. Much more comfortable than a physical test, it is taking breast cancer testing literally to the neighbourhood, which will be helpful in early detection.
