According to the Geological Surveys of Europe, the epicenter of the earthquake was south of Fiji, at a depth of 418 km.
There are no reports of material damages or human losses yet.
Fiji Islands are located in a region called the Ring of Fire in the Pacific Ocean, which is exposed from time to time to many aftershocks and earthquakes that may be strong.
In May, the Fiji Islands were hit by an earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale, with a depth of 589.5 km.
