(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) Riyadh, June 23, 2022, SPA -- King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has extended the contract of implementing Masam Project for clearing mines in Yemen, which were installed by Houthi militia, for one year with a cost of USD 33.292 million, which equals SAR 124.845 million.
The project is implemented by Saudi personnel and international expertise through Yemeni teams that were trained on clearing mines with all their types and forms which were installed by the Houthi militia randomly in Yemeni territories, with the aim of clearing Yemeni lands from mines, where the project also implements training and capacity building activities for Yemenis in the field of clearing mines.
Advisor at the Royal Court and Supervisor General of KSrelief Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabeeah said:“Renewing this contract with the implementing partner is part of sense of responsibility of the center in the humanitarian responsibility towards brothers in Yemen, due to what this qualitative project represents of a great importance in clearing Yemeni lands from mines that were manufactured and installed by the Houthi militia in an unprecedented way with various forms and camouflages in places that target innocent civilians, where these mines caused permanent disabilities, chronic disabilities and several human losses that targeted women, children and the elderly through various acts that targeted security and life, noting that the project so far has managed to clear 346,570 mines and projectiles.
Dr. Al-Rabeeah extended his gratitude and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, for their humanitarian and relief efforts in several countries of the world, and in Yemen in particular.
