Real Madrid win their 14th UEFA Champions League title after 1-0 victory on Liverpool
(MENAFN) Real Madrid won over Liverpool 1-0 on Saturday to gain their 14th UEFA champions league title.
In the 15th minute, Mohamed Salah's attempt with his week foot from very close range to the bottom left corner was saved by a fine dive from Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois at Saint-Denis' Stade de France.
Just five minutes later, Courtois managed to deny another amazing attempt this time it came from Sadio Mane, the goalkeeper flew to reach stinging close-range shot and it was enough to push it onto the post.
Karim Benzema got his goal from the 18-meter area but it was ruled out by a controversial offside call after a VAR (video assistant referee) check that took almost two minutes in the 44th minute.
The second half started with Madrid controlling the tempo, and in the 59th minute, Vinicius Junior scored the needed goal for victory for Real Madrid.
The Spanish football club earned their 14th Champions League trophy to their cabinet -- five in the last eight years.
Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti became the first to win four UCL titles, 2 with milan in 2003 and 2007, then made his comeback with Real Madrid to win two additional ones in 2014 and 2022
