Turkey Opposition Party Slams Policy Towards Syria, Refugees

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ANKARA, May 10 (KUNA) -- Leader of Turkey's opposition Republican People's Party Kemal Kilicdaroglu on Tuesday criticized the government's policy towards Syria and the refugees' crisis stemming from the civil war.
Speaking at the parliament, Kilicdaroglu said the opposition would work on achieving peace and stability when it comes to power in the next elections.
He said that the government has not a clear policy on Syria and the refugee crisis.
There is no clear policy on the refugees and those who want to enter Turkey can freely cross the border, he said in an address to his deputies.
He noted that the country's ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) failed to make any sensible policy regarding the Syrian crisis since its eruption in 2011 and the millions of Syrians fleeing the conflict in that country.
He criticized President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for continuously changing his view about the refugees and not establishing a clear policy.
In addition, Kilicdaroglu stated that they would establish a new international institution in the Middle East for regional peace and stability when they come to power.
Meanwhile, Erdogan announced Monday that his country would work on the establishment of 200,000 housing units funded by international relief organizations in 13 areas on the Syrian territories to help return voluntarily the Syrian refugees to their homes. (end)
