CEO Magdalena Mook highlights the opportunities for the coaching sector in the UAE and the significant impact professional coaching has on individuals, organizations, and societies

Dubai, UAE: Professional development coaches and industry leaders from around the UAE gathered in Dubai on Wednesday to hear from the CEO of International Coaching Federation (ICF), a leading global organization of more than 50,000 professional personal and business coaches.

Addressing the state of coaching in the country and future trends at the ICF UAE Chapter, Ms Mook delivered a talk entitled the Global Landscape of Coaching Current and Future, highlighting new trends revealed by the PwC Global Coaching Study.

The demand for coaching globally has soared since the pandemic as people around the world have looked to proactively develop their skills to progress in their chosen careers and fields during challenging times. Research shows that global awareness about coaching increased from 51% 2010 to 70% in 2021. Demand for professional coaching grew by a third between 2015 and 2019, a trend which has accelerated over the last two years, Ms Mook noted.

In her presentation, Ms Mook described the main reasons people are seeking coaching and its impact in the MENA region. She spoke about how coaching trends have shifted during the pandemic, citing the fact that most people surveyed in the Middle East believe coaching virtually enhances business prospects by creating a wider audience of potential clients and boosting profits.

ICF's CEO is currently touring the Middle East highlighting the significant impact of coaching on a personal, organizational, and societal level. Ms. Mook underlined the importance of local branches, such as the ICF UAE Chapter, a non-profit organization aiming to promote the coaching profession and advance its members across the region.

She said” Local chapters have tremendous role in growing the awareness of professional coaching, they are the core of quality and engagement in the region”

The Global Coaching Study showed that across the globe, professional coaches are optimistic about the future of the industry, particularly in the Middle East region. Three quarters of respondents in the Middle East believe there will be an increase in the need for pro bono coaching, while nearly 80% of coach practitioners in the region expect that team coaching will become increasingly important.

Lina El Assaad, President of ICF UAE Chapter, said:“We are honored by the visit of the CEO of ICF Global to the UAE. This visit demonstrates the commitment of ICF to its members, and to the coaching profession in the UAE.”

ICF UAE aims to represent the highest standards and integrity of professional coaching in the UAE and support the growth and development of the practice in the region. With around 400 members, it is ICF's largest chapter in the region.

ICF is dedicated to advancing the coaching profession by setting high ethical standard, providing independent certification, and building a worldwide network of credentialed coaches across a variety of coaching disciplines. ICF is active in representing all facets of the coaching industry including Executive, Life Vision and Enhancement, Leadership, Relationship, and Career Coaching.
