J&K Under Covid Grip: Record 3251 People Test Positive, 4 Succumb

Srinagar- Jammu and Kashmir continues to grapple with the Coronavirus crisis as 3251 more people tested positive for the virus on Saturday, the highest number in the recent months, while four more people succumbed to the deadly infection in the Union Territory during the last 24 hours.

According to officials, Kashmir Valley witnessed an unprecedented spike as 2122 people contracted the infection in the last 24 hours. During the same time, 1129 fresh cases of novel Coronavirus were also registered from various parts of Jammu division, taking the total number of people infected in J&K to 355874.

In the Valley, officials said, Srinagar registered the highest 624 new cases of virus, Baramulla 471, Budgam 416, Anantnag 228, Kupwara 137,Bandipora 117, Pulwama 67, Kulgam 37, Ganderbal 21 and Shopian 4.

In the winter capital, officials said, Jammu reported a maximum of 685 fresh cases of infection, Udhampur 125, Samba 93, Kathua 59, Reasi 42, Poonch 35, Rajouri 34, Kishtwar 29, Doda 24 and Ramban 3.

“Moreover, 390 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and been discharged from various hospitals including 239 from Jammu Division and151 from Kashmir Division,” the officials said.

Also, the officials said that four more people, two each from Jammu and Kashmir divisions, succumbed to Covid-19 related complications on Saturday, taking the death toll to 4561 in J&K- 2218 in Jammu and 2343 in Kashmir.

The officials also said that no new cases of Mucormycosis were reported Saturday, thus the total numbers of confirmed cases remain 51 across J&K.
