Qatar - FM, Countess of Wessex discuss QFFD, Orbis cooperation

HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani met on Tuesday with Princess Sophie, Countess of Wessex of the UK, who is visiting the country.

During the meeting, they discussed the latest developments on the existing initiatives between the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) and the Orbis charitable foundation, as well as ways to enhance joint development efforts in various fields, especially humanitarian aid in the field of health.

'Qatar Creating Vision' initiative was established in partnership with the Orbis foundation based on the directives of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani. The initiative aims to reduce child blindness in India, Bangladesh, and Rohingya refugees in southeastern Bangladesh.

In December 2019, QFFD signed a memorandum of understanding with the Orbis foundation to expand the initiative and add four new countries: Ethiopia, Zambia, Vietnam, and Jordan, with a focus on Syrian refugees.
