Qatari, Afghan officials review humanitarian, rights situation in Afghanistan


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Doha: A delegation from the State of Qatar chaired by Special Envoy of the Foreign Minister for Counterterrorism and Mediation in Conflict Resolution H E Ambassador Dr. Mutlaq Al Qahtani met yesterday with a delegation from the Afghan caretaker government chaired by Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Amir Khan.

The delegations discussed topics related to counterterrorism, enhancing human rights and humanitarian aid. The two sides stressed the importance of having humanitarian aid reach its beneficiaries, especially with the winter season approaching.

Qatar stressed, during the meeting, on the importance of the continued operation of schools in Afghanistan, and the importance of giving all segments of the Afghan society, including girls, access to education.

Qatar also stressed its commitment to continuing work with all Afghan parties and international partners to enhance stability in Afghanistan. The caretaker Afghan government expressed its gratitude and appreciation for the role of Qatar in supporting the Afghan people and enhance security and stability in Afghanistan.
