Qatar - Delegation of navy ship Shabab Oman II visits QU campus


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Coinciding with the National Day of the Sultanate of Oman, Qatar University (QU) received a delegation of students participating in the Gulf voyage of the Royal Navy of Oman, Shabab Oman II.

This comes within the framework of the visit of the Royal Navy of Oman ship Shabab Oman II to the State of Qatar, as part of the representation of the Sultanate of Oman at Expo 2020 Dubai under the title“Oman, a New Approach.”

The ship departed from Muscat and will stop in Gulf Cooperation Council countries according to a specific path. The delegation was received by Dr. Hassan bin Rashid Al Derham, President of Qatar University; Dr. Khaled AlKhater, Vice-President for Administrative and Financial Affairs; Dr. Eman Mostafawi, Vice-President for Student Affairs; Dr. Mohamed Diab, Assistant Vice-President for Student Life and Services, and Abdullah Al Mulla, Director of Student Activities Department, and members of the university community. The cruise included 30 male and female students representing several European and Gulf universities.

The delegation started their tour from Hamad Port before Qatar University, where they were acquainted with the campus and its facilities. The university also showed all the research centers and colleges under its umbrella. The tour concluded in the Sports and Events Building.

Dr. Eman Mustafawi welcomed the delegation of the second Oman Youth Ship at Qatar University and assured them of QU's keenness to consolidate relations and cooperation with international educational institutions, support young people at the local, regional and international levels to achieve youth development and discover comprehensive educational opportunities that will achieve knowledge integration in all sectors and fields.

In addition to the visit, the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Qatar invited a group of students from QU to visit the second Oman Youth Ship at Hamad Port to learn about the various programmes it provides for young people in sailing, astronomy, teamwork, and to inform them the achievements of this trip.

This visit affirms the strong relations between the two brotherly countries and within the framework of the continuous cooperation between them and educational bodies and institutions.
