Maronite Patriarch urges Lebanese officials to solve row with Gulf

(MENAFN) Maronite Catholic Patriarchate of Antioch in Lebanon called on leaders in Beirut to settle a diplomatic row with the Gulf that has separated the nation more from its significant allies at a time of economic catastrophe.

During his Sunday lesson, Patriarch Beshara Al Rahi indirectly disapproved of Hezbollah and its associates for extending the weeks-long disaster, and for stopping the work of the government and the judges.

In previous weeks, Patriarch Al Rahi repetitively urged representatives to solve the row and bring back relations with Gulf countries, stressed by Hezbollah’s rising impact on Lebanese politics. His pleas have had little influence as political inactivity extends the fight.

The Patriarch reported from Bkerki, a Beirut area that is also the base of the Maronite Church, that “dragging this crisis will only further the economic haemorrhage Lebanon is going through, and make finding a solution even harder.”
