4.8 scale tremor struck Bali island, leaves 3 dead


(MENAFN) As declared by Indonesian search and rescue organization, more than three people lost their lives and seven others were wounded due to a 4.8-degree tremor that hit Indonesia's tourist island of Bali ahead of dawn.

The quake most hit the Karangasem and Bangli regions on the east side of the island, triggering citizens to escape their houses over fear.

The scale of the tremor was 4.8, and its epicenter was placed 62 kilometers (38.5 miles) northeast of the port town Singaraja at a depth of 10 kilometers, and the first tremor was after a 4.3 magnitude impact, according to The US Geological Review.

Two deaths were hidden under a landslide caused by the earthquake, and another fatality, who is a girl at the age of 3, was hit by falling wreckage, as wounded people mostly struggled with breaks and head injuries, and the firm was still gathering information on deaths and damages.
