Hadeer Shalaby participated in the 7th Techne Summit for Entrepreneurship
(MENAFN- Spark) Cairo, 5th October 2021- Hadeer Shalaby, the managing director of talabat Egypt, participated in the seventh edition of the Techne Summit & Exhibition that supports Egypt’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, which was held in the Bibliotheca Alexandrina from 2-4 October 2021 and sponsored by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.
“Techne Summit is a prominent platform that brings together leading tech companies and provides entrepreneurs in the region with a great opportunity to showcase their innovations to investors, media, and technology users, thus paving the way for collaboration. I am honored to be a part of this event sharing my experience as the MD of one of the oldest mature startups in Egypt - talabat, and to pass on the support I received at the beginning of my career as an entrepreneur,” Commented Hadeer Shalaby, MD of Talabat Egypt.
Shalaby’s panel covered growth and expansion plans for startups in different markets, answering the entrepreneur's vital questions on when to expand your business and how to pick the right, strategic markets for expansion. Shalaby also spoke about her successful experience in the startup scene since launching her own business, Taxi El Sahel, to assuming a superior position within the senior management team at Careem before her joining talabat Egypt.
“talabat has a well-defined strategy to support the Egyptian government’s efforts in accelerating the pace of digital transformation and the use of modern technology in all sectors, especially the online food & Grocery delivery market. Our company is committed to using technology to benefit our entire ecosystem - restaurants, riders, and customers. We aim to also support the economy by securing employment for young adults, whether in delivery, technical support or customer service,” Shalaby asserted.
Shalaby revealed that talabat achieved 86% growth in business volume during the past year, as the precautionary measures that followed the spread of COVID-19 contributed to an increase in quick and e-commerce sales. The MD of talabat Egypt indicated that the company has a plan to expand in the Egyptian market through new cities and additional services, in addition to establishing partnerships with cross-sectoral companies, such as electronic payment service providers to encourage cashless transactions.
Techne Summit and Exhibition is an international event geared towards several industries, investment, and entrepreneurship, in particular, that aims to influence multiple sectors and communities of startup owners in the Mediterranean, by showcasing different technologies and ways to apply them to each industry. The summit was held for the first time in Egypt in 2015 in Alexandria, and in the 2020 edition, it hosted more than 13,000 participants, 250 speakers, 600 startups and 180 investors from 70 countries.
