Mali: Assault on Malian army convoy leaves 5 people dead
(MENAFN) On Tuesday, Sep. 28 the Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) stated on their official website that five persons lost their lives and another four were injured in an assault on an army-escorted convoy in western Mali.
At around 8:30 am local time (0830 GMT) Tuesday, the terrorist assault aimed at the convoy of a mining firm protected by FAMa members on National Road N.1 close to Didieni town, the forces noted, without specifying the identities of the victims.
On Sept. 11, two drivers of Moroccan origin died and another was wounded on their way to the Malian capital Bamako by armed men in the very area.
Since 2012, the country has been confronting deep and multifaceted catastrophes in security, politics and economy. Domestic insurrections, jihadist incursions and inter-communal aggression have resulted in thousands of casualties and hundreds of thousands of displacements.
