Tanzania: Plant blast leaves 40 wounded in Mwanza
(MENAFN) On Saturday, Sep. 25 police stated that over 40 employees of a steel plant in the Tanzanian northern region of Mwanza were wounded on Friday afternoon after a blast.
The 40 employees of Nyakato Steel Mill factory in the Mwanza city got wounded after a metal blasted pushing galvanized steel into all directions, noted Ramadhan Ng'anzi, the Mwanza regional police commander.
Police in cooperation with members of the Tanzania Fire and Rescue Force reached the factory to organize saving operations, according to Ng'anzi.
The police official stated the wounded workers were immediately sent to the Sekou Toure regional referral Hospital for medical care, further saying that a number of the victims were in severe state.
