Clashes between Yemeni gov’t army, Houthis leave more than 60 dead in Marib

(MENAFN) On Monday, Aug. 23, a military source said to Xinhua that over 62 Houthi militants and four soldiers of the Yemeni administration army died in clashes in Yemen’s central province of Marib in the last 48 hours.

The clashes occurred in three frontlines of Al-Kasarah, Mashjah and Al-Zour in the eastern edges of the western district of Sirwah, around 20 km west of the province's central city, also named Marib.

The Houthi militants increased ground assaults in the three frontlines, aspiring to move forward into strategic hilltops overlooking Marib city.

The source in Marib said to Xinhua on condition of remaining anonymous: "all the Houthi militia attempts to advance since Saturday were foiled."
