Afghanistan: Taliban assault kills 4 in Takhar province
(MENAFN) Provincial police spokesperson Abdul Khalil Asir stated that on Saturday, Apr. 17 four pro-administration militiamen have been killed as Taliban rebels assaulted a security checkpoint outside Taluqan, the capital of Afghanistan's northern Takhar province.
The official corroborated that a group of Taliban rebels broke into a checkpoint of pro-administration militiamen in Tarmabai locale in the suburbs of Taluqan city at 1:00 a.m. local time Saturday, leaving four dead and another five injured.
Asir stated that Taliban rebels also suffered losses without being able to give a precise number.
Meanwhile, a security official on the condition of remaining anonymous declared that three Taliban rebels had been confirmed dead and another three were wounded in the clash that went on for a while.
