Qatar- Vaccination at QNCC only on invitation for specific groups
(MENAFN- Gulf Times) * MoPH says targeted groups or individuals will receive an SMS invitation to come to the vaccination centre on the dates specified
The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Saturday reiterated that vaccination at the Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC) is intended for specific groups on a priority basis.
"The MoPH confirms that invitations will be sent in a gradual and phased manner to ensure the safety of society and a smooth and effective vaccination process," it said in a post on social media.
The current stage targets the teaching and administrative staff at schools "for their own safety and the safety of our own students", the ministry explained. The reiteration came a day after the MoPH clarified that it was not true that whoever went to the new temporary Covid-19 vaccination centre at QNCC would be given the vaccine. 'The ministry invites all community members to obtain news and information from official sources, the ministry's website and social media accounts, it had said in a tweet on Friday.
The targeted groups will receive an SMS invitation to come to the vaccination centre on the dates specified. The vaccine will only be given to those who have received an invitation while others are required to wait until they get an SMS invitation, provided they carry a valid health card when coming for a scheduled vaccine appointment.
"The MoPH also confirms that the vaccine is still available in all health centres through appointments," it added.
Last Thursday, HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz al-Thani visited the QNCC vaccination centre and inspected the facility, which is run by the Primary Health Care Corporation under the supervision of the MoPH. He was briefed on the work mechanism in general, the operational capacity of the centre and the medical procedures used.
On her part, HE the Minister of Public Health Dr Hanan Mohamed al-Kuwari stressed that "the addition of this new vaccination centre will enable us to increase our capacity to vaccinate even more essential workers and open more opportunities for the general public to be vaccinated".
