The Winner Of One Gold And Five Silver YouTube Creator Awards Maksim Sulimau Shares The Industry Secrets

(MENAFN- YNB Digital Media) Until 2015 Maksim Sulimau had no clue that in only few years he would become one of the most successful YouTubers in the CIS, managing nine channels in five languages (Russian, German, English, French and Spanish) with an audience of about two and a half million subscribers from all over the world. At the time he had graduated from the faculty of economics of one the universities in Belarus and lived a regular life of an urban resident – creating and promoting websites and venturing into other fields. However, by the age of twenty-four he decided to try something completely different and became a YouTube blogger.

- When I decided to become a video blogger, I realized that I didn't want to run this project solely as a hobby, a pastime, as I sought to give it my best and see what can be achieved. I approached it in full awareness. I thought through the concept of my channel and settled on making my videos about a wide range of entertaining and interesting subjects that would engage the viewers in the best way possible. As a result, I registered at the platform, created the YouFact channel and in February of 2015 published my first video titled Twenty Most Incredible Beaches on Earth.

As our interviewee recalls, five years ago streaming and video platforms were not nearly as popular as they are today. Information on how to create and promote your own channel was scarce. Maksim became one of the trailblazers in his niche in the Russian language internet segment. That is why he had to learn everything on the fly, through watching how foreign bloggers created their product and capitalizing on their experience by adapting it to his own audience. Now, he is one of the leading talents of our time in the field.

In 2016 Maksim and his wife Alyona settled in Costa Rica and that is from where he manages his 30-member team. His project now includes nine channels in five different languages: Russian, English, German, Spanish, and French. Without any help from producers or investors he was able to reach millions of subscribers and generate hundreds of millions of views from all over the world. In recognition of such achievements he received international awards from YouTube: one Gold and five Silver Play Buttons. The Gold is given for reaching one million subscribers, the Silver – for 100,000 subscribers. In fact, achieving such results and getting the above awards is not easy at all, as statistics show that 88.4% of all YouTube videos do not even reach one thousand views. And the share of “millionaire bloggers” worldwide is a measly 0.05%.

In addition to videos on various entertaining trivia, Maksim Sulimau's team creates videos about different technological innovations. Firstly, the subject is popular among the target audience, and secondly, it attracts potential advertisers.

- It is hardly a secret that in addition to monetization on YouTube, it’s also possible to make money there from direct advertising. If your channel’s theme is relevant for certain businesses and the channel has a fairly large audience, then its earning potential becomes much higher. I personally was always keen about the subject of gadgets, so I decided to venture into this field – and rightfully so. Over the last few years, we have collaborated or continue to collaborate with such large companies as Wargaming, software producer Wondershare, Roborock – a subsidiary of Xiaomi, manufacturing vacuum cleaner robots, Letyshops cashback service, and many other renowned brands.

For instance, this year alone we generated a total of $800,000 in sales turnover for Amazon through the traffic at our channels.

We are a young perspective team, which, by trial and error methods, promotes our product - for many of us, this is the first experience in this industry. And I also continue to learn a lot, but at the same time, I want to share my experience with young people who would like to give it a try in this field. To do this, I want to create free courses and see what will happen- if it is useful, then I will continue doing this.
Recently I was invited as an expert to the Blogger School international competition. The contest was organized with the support of the Ministry of Education of Russia. Distinguished media market professionals participated as experts at the contest. I also shared my expertise by evaluating and analyzing the prospects for development on YouTube, provided advice on how to run channels in different languages, as well as how to develop your brand and scale your business.
